Learn the art of Massage for the mum to be.
Our pregnancy massage course will teach the therapist about the physical changes that accompany each trimester including postural adaptations.
It will include contraindications to pregnancy massage and how to treat concerns such as back ache, fatigue, fluid retention, headaches and leg cramps.
The practical session will include a full body massage that will teach the therapist how to adapt their body, face and scalp massage to the pregnant client. This will include specific instruction on the location of supports in the side lying and semi-reclined positions. The techniques taught will target the muscles most affected by postural changes during pregnancy.
This is a very informative workshop which covers special considerations for the pregnant client and will equip the therapist to treat pregnant clients with confidence, understanding and the utmost care.
Applicants must hold a recognized qualification in Anatomy & Physiology and a body massage diploma to undertake this workshop.
Course Contents:
- Consultation specific to pregnancy
- Cautions & Contraindications
- Explanation of specific massage techniques used
- Physical support – how to support the mother and to use supports (e.g. pillows) to make her comfortable and relaxed and safe in order to receive the best massage possible.
- Using the appropriate massage mediums e.g. which massage oil is suitable for massage.
- Safety and care for your clients when massage is completed, how to bring the client back to sitting and standings positions with care and knowledge.
- Maternity Massage for the full body.
- Performing the massage for and adapting for the various stages of pregnancy
- Sealing in energy/Grounding energy before the treatment starts and when the massage is completed
